A couple of weeks ago, Dave and I took Alice on her first holiday! I didn't blog or tweet about it at the time because... I'm not really sure! I don't really blog about every single element of my life, like some bloggers do, because I like to keep my actual life a little separate form my online one (failing miserably, I know!).
I have to admit, I was a little nervous about taking Alice away from home. More than a little! I know it was only the Isle of Wight, but it might as well have been Australia! You see, when I first had Alice, as confident as I appeared to come across on this blog, I was actually very nervous about taking he rout and about in public. I wanted to just stay indoors where I could take care of her on my own, in our own environment with noone else around to see us! I was just scared of how I would cope with her out and about. What if she started screaming and I couldn't stop her, and people stared and someone told me off?!
So when we booked the holiday I was a little nervous, but I knew I had to do it. And I am so glad I did! It was just the boost I needed and the kick up the bum to get me out of my little cocoon and into the world! It was the best holiday ever and we had so much fun! In fact, it was the first week that Alice slept through the night, 7-7! (And hasn't done that since!).
I didn't realise how scary and strange it would be having a baby, and certainly wasn't expecting to feel too worried to take my own daughter out in her pram! I think as long as you are prepared, and make sure your car is working (can always visit Tyre-Shopper.co.uk beforehand!) it will go fine! So if you are feeling the same, my advice would be to just do it! Get out and about, walk round the block, go to the shops, get on a bus! Just do it and believe me, you will cope. I did!
xx
What a lovely holiday :) Perhaps it was the sea air which made Alice sleep so much! xx
ReplyDeleteAw, love the pic of Alice in her sun hat! I still get nervous cuz Aiden SCREAMS & refuses to take bottles when we go to Glasgow - even though he's fine in our local shops! Doesn't stop me trying though! Xo
