Well, it's been two weeks since we moved in to our first home, and it's been a lot of work. But also a lot of fun! Alice has settled in so well, so quickly, which I am so happy about. The first night we slept here, I couldn't get to sleep at all because it was all so new and strange. I was worried Alice would be the same, but she has actually been sleeping better than ever since moving in! (except for the 5am wake ups, but you can;t have it all!)
It has been difficult as well. I lived with my parents, so it has been a bit of a shock having to do the washing, ironing, cooking, cleaning as well as taking care of the little monkey! I have to figure out when I can shower (now she's up at 5, mornings are a no no) so I am working harder on some good, longer nap times so I can do what I need to do!
Keeping the house tidy is also a bit of a challenge. I have tried to incorporate her toys into the "look" of the living room (you'll see what I mean when I post about the house decor!) so that they are easier to tidy and don't look like they are just stuck in the room. I think the wooden floors are a lifesaver as they are so easy to clean when she spills drinks, crumbs etc on them. It is all coming together, but I think it will take a little longer until we are really settled here and feel at home.
Having said that, I am so happy we are finally living together as a family. Hopefully Alice will love growing up in this creaky, pretty and quirky cottage!
xx
I'm so glad you are all settling in so well! Can't wait for the decor post! Xo
ReplyDeleteWe incorporated some of Melody's toys with our living room look - we put them in a cute brown basket that has a lid on it - they don't really stay in there much but hey, it works to throw them all in before company shows up. haha.
ReplyDeleteI know it's hard doing it all by yourself but you can do it!
My only advice - don't attempt it all in one day - make out a list if you have to and do some stuff on one day and some stuff on another day...makes things a little easier on ya!
It's such a shock going from living at home to living alone! I don't think I have yet to get the hang of laundry, I occasionally have to fill a duvet case and go to the launderette (that's a secret!)
