It’s April in the UK, and we’re still half-expecting another
sprinkling of snow. For anyone not native to Britain, FYI, we waved hello to
the first day of spring with a snowman standing in our front gardens. It’s
still jumper weather now, so it’s hardly time to start dusting off your
favourite sandals just yet.
That said, it shouldn’t be long now (we hope!) until the
climate starts warming up, so start brainstorming new ways to wear your spring kicks
now. As soon as the sun starts shining, you can put your best foot forward.
Here’s a bit of inspiration about how you can wear your sandals.
1. Smarten Up
Spring in the UK famously packs a punch. It may be a bit
warmer, but it’s rarely shorts and t-shirts weather. Cut through those slightly
chilly days by matching your sandals with skinny jeans.
Spring is all about a soft, feminine look, so choose a flowy
blouse to balance out your figure-hugging skinnies. A black blazer will help
keep you warm over that wispy material, and some simple bracelets will add a
little sparkle to the outfit.
2. Midi Dress Maven
Still this season’s most on-trend length, pick a midi skirt
with lots of colour and cinch your waist with a belt to give your silhouette
form. To stave off the chill, throw on a leather jacket for just enough
attitude.
A statement necklace will really pull this outfit together.
With tribal still in this season,
find a chunky necklace which complements your jacket or matches any detailing
on your sandals. Ethnic jewellery and leather are a match made in heaven.
3. Black and Gold
Black and gold will serve you well this spring for any
formal events you may have coming up. Incorporate this throughout your outfit (She
Wears Fashion shows you how) and complete the look with a statement
headband – you can find some beautiful House of Harlow inspired designs on Etsy
and eBay. Dress down with flat sandals or make your outfit a little flashier
with some strappy high heels.
4. Ahoy, Sailor!
Watch out for peg-leg trousers this spring. These
wonderfully tomboyish slacks are great for a casual day at the beach or a
picnic out with friends. Paired with a cami and a denim jacket, you’ve got your
nautical spring steeze
nailed.
5. Moroccan Madness
If you’re looking forward to sunny days, get the Moroccan
look with a maxi dress that will steal the show. Choose a kaftan that’s light enough
for full coverage and will show off leather sandals; especially if you colour
your toenails a bright, coral hue.
Shorties, elongate your body with some raised platforms, but
taller ladies can settle for flats comfortably. Accessorise with bangles and a
headpiece for an exotic look that wouldn’t look amiss on the streets of
Marrakech.
