Wedding Cocktails

To save money, Dave and I have decided to hold our wedding reception in my parents back garden. We are hiring a marquee and decorating the whole thing ourselves (eek!). There are definite advantages to this idea. Money, creative control, a relaxed environment... money! So far we have hired the marquee and decided on colour themes and flower ideas and things... all the important stuff! You can get more of an idea of my trail of thought on my pinterest.

One of the things I am really excited about, is making our own cocktails for the drinks reception. With the wedding being in the middle of summer, I think cocktails would be perfect. The guys at Spa Breaks have created this great video teaching us how to make the perfect cocktail:

They make it look so easy and fun! I love cocktails. Not only do they taste great, they look great! The more colourful the better. I like the idea of making them all up and lining them up in rows on a big table so that everyone can just grab one.

What do you think of cocktails for a wedding?

  1. Pinterest has such lovely creative ideas for this type of wedding. I've pinned so much and can't wait to book a date and getting crazy :)

  2. I think this is a great idea!
Also (if you wanted) you could create cocktails to match any sort of colour scheme you have in mind. And you don't have to leave anyone out (as can sometimes happen with toasts etc) for those aren't drinking by offering a non-alcoholic version too. Really summery outdoorsy idea - love! x

  3. oh amazing, my fiance and I are also thinking about having a marquee in my parents garden. Hadn't thought about making our own cocktails ... wow!!

I do want to have drinks in tea cups for the ladies, vintage, shabby chic theme.

I love pinterest, amazing ideas on there.

  4. The best part of the night came about when I hear the hostess arguing with a few guests who, weren't allowed to sit at a certain table because their party wasn't big enough.
