Dear Alice,
I haven't written you a letter in ages! I suppose now that you are getting older, I am able to actually talk to you more and more instead... But things are changing and I wanted to write you something before our World turns a little hectic for a while.
For the past 2 and a half years we have been a three. You me and daddy. Well, things are about to change, big time! Your baby brother is almost here and we will be a family of four. That means a lot of changes are going to happen around here! Mainly, a complete lack of routine and chaos. As daddy can't take too much time off, it's gonna be you, me and the baby most of the time. But I know you will be the best big sister and helper I could ask for.
We are starting swimming together next week, something I hope to continue after baby brother is born. Just you and me. And daddy is going to take you out on a Sunday morning, just you and him. We want you to know that we still love you tons and tons and you are not being replaced! I think I worry quite a lot about how you will feel when the baby comes along. I would hate to think you felt rejected in any way. I have been spoiling you a little recently, which is probably not the right thing to do, but I can't help myself.
You are growing up so quickly and in a way, it makes me sad. Because I know that you will grow up even more once the baby is here. It's kind of how it works. Plus you are going to look MASSIVE sitting next to a new born baby! But you are growing into such a wonderful person and you are making me so so proud to be your mummy. You are helpful and caring and kind to everyone. You get shy in front of new people, but go crazy when you're at nanny and granddads! You nag me constantly, but hearing you saying, "mum? mum? mummy? mum?" feels me with such happiness. I never realised just how amazing being a mummy would be, and it really is the best thing in the world.
No matter how many babies follow, know that I love you so much. You will always be my first born and my special team mate. I can't wait till the days where we can chat about our days and gossip about soap characters and eat too much ice-cream together before bed.
Please always stay as lovely as you are. You are perfect.
Love always,
Mummy xx
