A couple of weeks ago, we were kind enough to be invited to the Moonraker hotel in Bradford on Avon. It's just a 15 minute drive from Bath city centre and is set in the most beautiful countryside. We were greeted with a lovely open fire burning away in an eclectically decorate reception and shown to our room, a converted cow shed. With the long beams across the celling, large four poster bed and view overlooking the pigs outside, we knew we wouldn't want to leave any time soon!
The bathroom was complete with Neil's Yard products to use with the option of purchasing a bottle yourself from the shop in reception. The full sized bottles are re-filled, an act that highlights their commitment to reducing their waste and being environmentally friendly. We were given a travel cot for Thomas and a single bed for Alice, which was perfect for jumping on!
That evening we were treated to a taster menu. Chef Matthew Briddon explained how the hotel is moving towards being completely self sufficient for food. We were treated to a home grown beetroot starter, salmon that had been smoked on site, tender beef and a chocolate pudding for dessert. Alice had her very own shepherds pie and chocolate ice-cream. I can honestly say, the food was incredible and we were completely stuffed by bedtime!
In the morning we took the children over to see the piggies and took a walk around the beautiful grounds. The hotel even has it's own bee hives on site, with honey you can purchase form the shop! The function room is perfect for weddings and the entire place is just so charming and pretty. The staff were so accommodating and welcoming and we wanted to stay for longer!
We had such a fantastic time exploring Bath before heading home. The children really enjoyed their adventure and we realised that it's not so bad travelling with a toddler and a baby together! In fact, we have vowed to do more weekend trips this year.
