The Ordinary Moments #2- Jumping on the Bed!

Sunday, January 10, 2016

I've been wanting to join in with this blogging link up for a while! If you're not familiar with it, Katie from Mummy Daddy Me describes it as this:

When I started the ordinary moments project way back in 2013, I wrote this…
{the ordinary moments}
‘The simple things in life are often the sweetest.  While the fancy days out, weekends away or holidays are fun, it’s the ordinary moments I will miss when my children are all grown up.  The snuggling in bed reading a story.  The giggles as they run around my overgrown garden with the grass that desperately needs a cut.  Even the naughty ones.  The ones we all have.
Just a photo from your week.  The simple.   The exciting.  The imperfect.  The Ordinary Moments.’
So here is my ordinary moment. It was last Tuesday, and Dave had gone back to work after 2 weeks at home with us. It was the first day in a long time that I was alone with my two children, and boy was it hard work. After baking cakes, playing with the lego, watching Frozen and playing dress-up I was running out of ideas. I mean, scrap that, I had run out of ideas. I had no idea what to do to keep them going and it was only 3pm! (Anyone else hate 3pm?!).

I took them upstairs and let them jump on my bed. And to my surprise, it kept them utterly entertained for ages. Alice started pretending they were on a boat and it was rocking all over the place. And whenever Thomas got off the bed she shouted he had fallen overboard and had to dive in to save him. it was so funny!

Sometimes looking after these two on my own is hard work. But I love capturing these little moments  and looking back on them. You know, the ordinary moments!

xx

  2. I'm a huge fan of The Ordinary Moments too, it's my favourite link up that I am (trying to) commit to every week this year. Children have such vivid imaginations don't they and absolutely love jumping on beds, or the sofa!

  3. 3 PM is the worst time here too, well actually 4pm is. My littlest is up from her nap and it's so long till bedtime! Can't beat a bit of bed jumping, and the light is gorgeous. You are one talented lady with the camera so can't wait to see more of your pics. Lovely to have you joining in. x

  5. This is so cute. My youngest two are always jumping all over the bed, and me, and my husband but usually me. They use me as a pillow, slide, bouncy castle (thanks Peppa Pig) and the bed is their favourite place to jump about. Now mine are a bit older I feel less guilty about giving them time to chill watching a programme when they come back from a busy day at nursery. I had two under two it's difficult, but it's lovely when they can play and entertain each other, you just have to be there (of course) to separate the toy wars and make sure they don't bounce off and hurt themselves haha. Lovely pictures xxx

    1. Haha! Snap! I find that now they have finally got to the age where they want to start playing together, Alice is going to be at school all day! Typical huh?
      Ps. I blame Peppa Pig for everything. Blooming everything! Hehe! xx

  6. I know what you mean about looking after two on your own. Sometimes you could just do with a bit of back up! It's great to see their imaginations grow though!

    1. It is hard sometimes. I just seem to run out of steam mid afternoon! But it's nice when they entertain each other for a bit... usually in between fighting! Hehe! xx
