Apple and Blackberry picking

We went blackberry and apple picking at the weekend. It was the first cold day of Autumn and there was nothing else I wanted to do with the kids more! I get so excited about the start of Autumn. There's something so magical and refreshing about the leave changing colours, the weather getting slightly colder and the nights getting darker earlier. I think it's because we are an outdoors kind of family, and everywhere seems to be less busy at this time of year. Which is crazy, because running about in the leaves, jumping in muddy puddles and blackberry picking are the things my kids enjoy most in life!

We attempted an apple and blackberry pie when we got home, but it didn't work quite to plan. We had lots of custard to cover it up though, so it was all good ;)

I love how helpful and kind my children are being to each other recently. Alice kept holding the bag open for Thomas to put his blackberries in. And Thomas kept calling Alice over when he found a good bunch of them growing! I hope this continues, but I'm not holding my breath! Hehe!
